Your pregnancy at 10 weeks
It’s booking appointment week! At 10 weeks, you’ll meet your midwife for the first time and see exciting developments in your baby’s growth. Learn about what to expect during your booking appointment and the changes happening with your baby and your body.
It’s booking appointment week! This week (give or take), you should get to meet your midwife, which is an exciting step in your pregnancy journey. There will be plenty of questions about your and your partner’s health history and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. It’s a good idea to jot down your questions beforehand so you don’t forget (yes, baby brain may have kicked in by now).

Baby's Development
Your baby’s cute little face continues to develop, and this week you would be able to see their nostrils and upper lip if you could peek inside. Their jawbones are also developing, which amazingly contain all their milk teeth, although these won’t push through until a few months after birth.
- Heart: Your baby's heart is now fully formed and beating very fast, up to 180 beats a minute, which is 2-3 times faster than yours.
- Size: At this stage, your baby is about the size of a kumquat, approximately 3-4cm long from head to bottom.
Changes in Mum
Are your clothes starting to feel a little snug? Your uterus is now the size of an orange, making room for your growing baby. This might be the time to start thinking about some maternity wear. Check out our pregnancy style article for inspiration.
- Constipation: You may also be suffering from constipation, another lovely side effect of pregnancy. If this is happening, try to increase your intake of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, and drink plenty of water.
- Vaginal Discharge: Another thing you may have noticed is an increase in clear or white vaginal discharge. This is perfectly normal. However, if you notice an unpleasant smell, colour, or itching, let your midwife know as it could indicate an infection. For more information about infections, check out our up-close and personal article here.
